Long-distance transit company Ena Coach has welcomed its first female matatu driver, a significant achievement in the public service transportation sector.
In a post shared on its social media platforms, Ena Coach made the announcement hailing the driver, Beatrice for her remarkable feat which she achieved through vast experience behind the wheel.
“We are thrilled to announce a historic milestone as we welcome our very first female driver, Beatrice. Beatrice joins our team with exceptional skills and a passion for driving that inspires us all.
Her dedication and expertise are a testament to our commitment to diversity and excellence in our exemplary services,” the statement read.
In pursuit of equal gender representation in the male-dominated field, Beatrice’s new position is the first of many anticipated hires by the firm. It hopes to continue the trend and make way for increased female representation.
“Let’s all extend a warm welcome and show our support as she hits the road, breaking new ground and leading the way for future generations,” the statement continued wishing Beatrice smooth sailing as embarks on her new career path.
Congratulatory messages poured in from supporters, as they wished journey mercies upon her voyages.

Beatrice joins the long-distance transportation firm that links regularly to all major cities of Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Mombasa.
It also serves Kenya’s rural areas and small towns, and some of its routes connect to Busia, Kisii, Naivasha, Kakamega, Bungoma, Sirare, Sori, Bomet, Bondo, Chavakali, Siaya, Keroka, Voi, Mtito Andei, among other places.
Her maiden trip is bound for Kisii town and she is set to traverse to all regions covered by the company.
