There was jubilation in Alego, Siaya County, as a young girl, known for selling groundnuts to support her aged grandmother, scored a B Plain in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Vienda, seen in heartwarming photos with her dear grandmother before joining high school (left), and with Silas Odhiambo Apuoyo Biggy after receiving her KCSE results (right), garnered attention for her remarkable achievement.
Rangala Secondary School in Ugenya, Siaya County, played a pivotal role in Vienda’s success.
When she was admitted, she had nothing to her name, according to Kisumu philanthropist Silas Odhiambo Apuoyo Biggy.
Vienda, faced with her grandmother’s inability to pay her school fees, resorted to selling groundnuts to support the elderly lady.
“As her grandmother was not in a position to pay her school fees, Vienda turned to selling groundnuts to support the old lady,” Apuoyo shared with TUKO.co.ke.
Netizens expressed their congratulations and admiration for Vienda’s accomplishment:
- Jaramogi Hazard: “Congratulations to her. I remember the day we took her to Rangala.”
- Prime Knight: “No religion is greater than truth, and no faith is greater than fact…I see God here.”
