Llewellyn Ouya: How I Ended Up Earning a Six-Figure Salary Years After Being Sacked from a KSh 60K Monthly Job

Llewellyn Ouya, now a successful content creator, recently shared his incredible journey from being fired from a KSh 60,000 per month job to earning a six-figure income through his TikTok videos and other ventures.

In a candid social media post, Ouya detailed the setbacks he faced after losing his job and how he transformed adversity into opportunity.

The turning point came when Ouya was abruptly fired. He vividly recalled his supervisor’s words on that fateful morning: “Lewis, take all your things and leave.” Following the dismissal, Ouya faced additional challenges, including being ostracized by colleagues and having his salary withheld due to a minor issue of not returning two company T-shirts. Despite the humiliation and frustration, Ouya remained resilient.

After leaving his job, he tried various business ventures, including opening a PlayStation and movie shop, which initially brought in good money.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to close the business due to lockdown measures. Undeterred, Ouya pivoted to selling electronics, though this venture didn’t last long either.

In the midst of the pandemic, Ouya discovered content creation as a new path. He began posting videos on TikTok, though it took six months before he started seeing any earnings from his content.

His determination and consistency eventually paid off, as his TikTok and YouTube channels began generating significant income.

His earnings have since surpassed his previous salary, with some short videos earning him more than KSh 60,000—equivalent to his entire monthly salary at his old job.

Ouya now earns through multiple streams, including business consultancy, brand partnerships, ebook sales, and monetized content on his YouTube channel.
